How To Build A Dungeon

By Maître Pierre

This Old Little House

Many things happen in this little old house daily.

This little old house is a 25 by 34 square feet, forty year old bungalow, located in a Montreal suburb, near a beautiful river.

The lot itself is not very big, 50 by 100. The lot is shared by the house itself, a two car driveway, a 18 feet round pool, a little garden shed and a garden. The neighbours' houses are about twenty feet from O/ours.

The house is like every house of this age. The plumbing and electricity need some work. Already, doors and windows are being changed. The maintenance and renovation of this house are an ongoing task. Already, a lot of work has been put in it but lots of work is still needed.

It is a bungalow with a seven foot basement (unfinished), and 8 foot ceilings. There are three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and of course a bathroom.

This little old house is being shared by Myself and my beautiful sub katy; it is a studio for musical purpose, an office/computer room, a warehouse for the audio equipment, a drum set, a workplace to build stuff from wood (mainly carrying cases for audio gear) and is being ruled by the REAL masters of this domain, mainly O/our two cats.....:)

Now You understand the importance of every inch in this house. There is so much stuff crammed into this house, that W/we have to make every inch efficient. So when W/we decided to build a dungeon, everything else had to be considered and the undertaking of building that dungeon became a major task.

Let's chose the room for the dungeon. The big bedroom, the master bedroom, is being used as ....a master bedroom. Let's face it folks, W/we A/all need a place to sleep...:) For obvious reasons, the kitchen and bathroom were out of the question. And the living room was out of the question even though it is the biggest room in the house, is already being used as a studio, office, computer room and yes.....living room...:)

So what W/we have left is the basement and the two bedrooms. Since the ceiling of the basement is only 7 feet from concrete floor to the ceiling beams, it means when W/we finish the basement with a floor and also finish the ceiling, we will only have 6 foot 6 inches of clearance, not enough to suspend a 5 foot 8 inches sub extended with arms over her head (I love you katy:) ) So it will be in one of the spare bedrooms.

Already the room that was part guest room part warehouse was being used for O/our plays. W/we call it the "TD" (Temporary Dungeon). But, for many reasons, this room was not appropriate for development as a dungeon. Only the middle bedroom could be used as a dungeon.
