Who We Are

The beginning of the shooting was at the beginning of my annual vacation. We had planned to do some "tourist" sightseeing. Aerlyn, the director, with her usual enthusiasm had said, "We will go with you guys!"

So one beautiful June day last year, we ended up, me, Catharine, our numeric camera.....and the full crew of Kink in Old Montreal!!!!! We started by doing some sightseeing in Old Montreal. Imagine the scene, Me and Catharine walking hand in hand, smiling at each other while we are watching the architectural details of the magnificient old buildings in Old Montreal......while the Kink crew runs around us, shooting us!!! We were quite a sight for all the tourists present there!

After much walking, we took a little lunch break. We had planned to go into a museum called "Pointe à la Callière" after our lunch. The producers of Kink, were aware of our plans to visit this beautiful museum. This museum tells the story of the developement of Montreal since late 1600 while we walk underground among old buildings foundations and sewers. To be able to film us, the producer of Kink had contacted the museum managers to get permission to film in the museum. This was denied by the management, which is ok.

But, when we arrive at the museum, we made a shocking discovery:

While in line to get inside the museum, in the line ahead of us, there was a couple about our age waiting for their turn. The lady was wearing a beautiful set of leather earings that roughly looked like little floggers and was probably made by native canadians. Catharine had noticed them and had discreetly pointed them to out to me.

When it was the couple's turn to pay for their admission, the young lady at the counter made a little pause when she noticed the earings and than asked the couple: "Are you the people from Kink?". The woman with the earings obviously confused by this question and answered "what?" and the young lady at the counter appologized and let them in. We looked at each other and when it was our time to pay, we simply kept quiet!

(Sigh!) By the tone of the voice of the young lady and her body language, it was obvious that we were not welcome. We did our visit but we felt odd.

The Kink crew had something else to do while we were in the museum, so, we had agreed to a time and a place to meet them. When we did meet them, we decided to do a beautiful carriage ride, all together, me, Catharine....and the Kink crew!
